Driver Endorsements
Summitt Trucking offers endorsement bonuses to drivers who obtain their hazmat endorsement while employed by the company. Drivers who already have hazmat and/or tanker endorsements upon hire do not receive bonuses, as they already qualify for additional pay per mile. The company pays out a $500 bonus for drivers who obtain their hazmat endorsement while working for Summitt. It is important to note that the additional mileage pay for hazmat only applies if a driver has both the hazmat and tanker endorsement. Solo drivers receive an extra $0.05 per mile for hazmat placarded loads, while team drivers receive an extra $0.05 (per driver) on all miles regardless of whether the load is placarded or not, provided that both members of the team have the necessary endorsements.
